Ikra: Quran Search 1.0

The Quran Search app aims to enhance the experience of navigating the Holy Quran. Often, users may recall a specific verse or portion of a verse but may struggle to identify its location within the chapters or require the translation for better understanding. This application addresses these challenges by allowing users to search for verses through both recitation and textual input in Arabic and Romanized Arabic.

The Romanized Arabic feature enables users to input verses using English letters that phonetically correspond to the Arabic sounds. For instance, phrases like “Qul hu wallahu ahad” and “Kul hu allahu ehad” are accommodated, as they sound alike despite variations in spelling and word structure. The app employs a specialized phonetic algorithm combined with various natural language processing techniques to ensure accurate search results.

Another significant feature of the app is its voice recognition capability. In cases where the recognizer may misinterpret a user’s input, it can still retrieve verses if the sound aligns with the corresponding verse in the database.

To facilitate correct pronunciation, users have access to audio recordings from the database. Additionally, images of the verses are also available, alongside translations in both English and Urdu, further enriching the user experience.
